I will be photography a ribbon cutting for the company I work for, and wanted to get some ideas on lighting. I have attached 2 phone pictures of the location there will be several people in this shot, most likely standing in front of the counter. I think the angle in pic number one will be a bit better than number 2. My question is what kind of light setup would you recommend. I will be utilizing speed lights for this. The ceiling is white paneling so a couple speed lights bounced of the ceiling could be good. What else would you recommend. I have not done too many large groups I normally stick to single models or couples for most of my photography.

If you're photographing the ribbon cutting, it should be done head on (straight). No angled shots. The people should be looking straight with the logo of the company behind them. Thats just my opinion.

the problem with that is the room is not big enough to take it straight on and get everyone in the shot, so i think the angle is something that has to be done. The ribbon will be placed at one of the corners of the counter depending on which side I'm shooting from.
