Some great shots submitted! I'll try to make some comments on them:

Lehmanncpa: You set the standard pretty high with the opening photo. It got an audible, "wow!" out of me. I don't know much about fisheye lenses, but it is obvious that you worked hard on that composition. Well done!

Voaky999: A definite wall hanger! I love the reflection of the trees and the red building. Great composition as well!

Scatterbrained: Another well composed shot for this week. The angle of the shot definitely gives the viewer the sense of being small, which I'm sure was the intention. I'd love to hear the story behind this shot.

tonylong: Alfred Hitchcock would be proud! I'm actually a big fan of silhouetted bird shots.

BambersImages: I've seen a lot of "leaves changing color" shots, but I don't think I've seen anything better than this. If I had taken this shot, it would be printed on canvas hanging on the wall.

Maureen: Great handling of the light, and also giving the perspective of how big those redwoods are. I'm jealous, as I have never seen them in person.

Jason C: Spectacular image! I think the crop ratio and black and white are perfect for this shot. That is one determined tree!

M_Six: I'm also a sucker for sunrise/sunset images that silhouette trees. I like how the color of the sky changes as you go higher on the photo. Cool shot.

As I said, it was really tough to choose. This week's winner is BambersImages! Just a stunning image.

Congratulations BambersImages! You're up!

Thanks for the kind words sandwedge. Great choice on the winner this week. I also really loved Jason and Mark's images. I think either of them would look really nice on my living room wall...

Good choice. BambersImages had the cream of the crop here. I really liked Jason C's stark image, too.

Great images everyone & thanks for the judging this week, Doug. If you are ever out this way, give me a heads up. Giant Forest is 39 miles from my house and Yosemite is another 35 miles.

Congrats to Bamber; beautiful fall colors & light!
