Im sure its easy to solve, but today the cursor for all the different functions has become a cross with a dot in the middle. Usually the clone stamp for example is a circle of varying diameters, now its just a one size cross. which is making things difficult. Same goes for other functions like blur, etc.
Any ideas on what ive done and how to change it back??

Cheers in advance

Sounds like it is the size of the cursor, it is now very small. It might even be at 1 pixel large. Use the [and] to increase/decrease the cursor size.

As Bill says, what size is the brush? Does it look as you expect with a larger brush size?

No not atall. Using the clone stamp with a brush size over 2000 and its still just the incomplete cross with a dot in the centre.

does it change on the fly or each time you reload/start photoshop?
if it does it on each reload, your preferences file may be corrupt.

You may have a more up to date version. I have 7 and my screen looks the same except i only have 3 options in painting cursors. The last two are combined to just brush size. And it seems to be happening on the fly as i havnt turned PS off yet. And bizzarely, when i go back to it after talking to you guys its corrected itself, twice. Maybe it is corrupt.

I think that I may have read somewhere a similar problem, the cure was to make sure "caps lock" is not on.

Do you have *Caps lock* on ?. This changes the appearance of the cursor

The Cap Keys button is used for a quick swith between the standard tool curser icon and the precise cuser (cross hair). Very useful when the icon visually gets in the way of acurate selection or placement of the tool.
