Hey all..
Ok i have had to sell my gear for financial reasons but in about 2 months I will be ready to purchase some gear back. This is what i am thinking....
-5d mark iii with 24-105 and later down the road the 135L
-6d with my 50 1.4 and 135L and possibly a 24-105
So far i have been reading a lot about the focus points on the 6d, outer points are not that great. I like using the outer points for "rules of 1/3s" shooting. What I like about the 6d is the price and the fact I can get the 135L and a 24-105 with change left over as opposed to just the mark iii with just the 24-105. Therefore waiting for the elusive 135L.
Any input will be appreciated, again I am not going to be buying right away, probably in a couple of months. Just want to get some info and know what i want to get.
Thanx!
Heya,
It's beyond over-stated the focus "issues" of the 6D. I think there's a specific date that it started and then bam, it's like copy-pasta.
I think you should get the tool that is appropriate for what you actually do, and not just things you're not really doing that the web has you thinking you need a camera twice as expensive, for.... the autofocus, which you don't really use (as you've stated in the past you mainly shoot stationary stuff). It just seems really illogical to get something with robust autofocus capability, rather than simply learning to use and function with a very good camera with a good autofocus system.
You've only read about the 6D. Stop reading. Rent it for 3 days. Test it yourself. And you'll know if you need to buy it, or if you really need to spend literally twice the money, to have a "better" outer focus point option. I think that's the simplest, and most realistic way to solve your questions.
Personally given the cost, I'd rather have better glass than the (loosely) best camera. Why get all that jazz, and then use the 50 F1.4 and/or 24-105L? I'd rather have a good camera, and glass like the 24L, Sigma 35mm, Canon 135L, right away.
Very best,
