Sunbelt Conference Championship

Shot the Sunbelt Championship tournament last weekend in New Orleans. NPS graciously loaned me 2 D4s' as well as a few lenses for the game. I had 2 remotes going for this game as well as 3 handheld cameras.

1 Remote above the basket in the catwalk with my 400mm and D3s.
1 Remote on the floor with a 17-35mm and D3s.
2 hand held D4s cameras (with 300mm and 70-200).
1 handheld D3 with 24-70.

This was my first thought. How did you mount that combo to the catwalk?

Very nice images as always.#6 and #7 are my favorites.

It wasn't a big deal, the catwalk went down the middle, so I just mounted it on the catwalk. Here's the photo of it after I set it up.

I had imagined a super clamp and a magic arm over hanging the basket. Thanks for the picture.

That was my original intent, but since the catwalk was right down the middle hanging it over the wide wouldn't get me the angle I wanted.

Interesting that those black metal bars directly in front of the lens don't impact the image at all. And people freak out over a tiny scratch in their front element.

Great shots! I'm from LA and went to ULL for a few semesters. They had a great run this year. Nice rigging and well worth the time and effort. They came out great!

Iso 6400, 1/1600 @ 2.8

Remote was 6400 @ F4 I think at 1/800

On the overhead remote, light permitting, I'd suggest closing down aperature to get greater DOF so that rim/ball and players are all in focus. The blurry ball and rim detract a bit in these images.

I was shooting with the 400 and with it being fairly close, I'd have to stop down to f8 to get everything in focus which I couldn't do because I was already at 6400. I was already at f4. The only shot that would have been usable with the rim in focus was 1 or 2 dunks, but even then it wasn't too spectacular. I much rather have the focus point lower so that I can get more shots of rebounds.

Absolutely love the eye in #7!!!
