During past sales if you were halfway diligent you could get multiple 35l, 85l, 135l, 70-200, 100-400, etc all at once.

I know, I remember reading about it at the time and being jealous, but ai wasn't at that place yet with photography.

It is anyone's guess if we will ever see so many different L lenses in stock during there sales going forward. That is one reason I was beyond pleased to snag just one when most others were coming up empty. Photo Price was the difference-maker.

Is it possible there were less people buying refurbs back then than there are now, so inventory now gets cleaned out faster than Canon can (or wants to) restock? We've been boasting how good the quality is with refurbs in this forum for a number of years. Possible over time that's attracted more buyers who wouldn't have, otherwise a year or two ago, considered buying a refurb. Just an idea.

Or possibly a combination of both -- more buyers, less available inventory.

And sites like Canon Price Watch that notify many people at practically the same time when the sale is, so there is a huge rush. Along with notice the night before when the sale will begin. I am sure there are a few people who stay up all night just waiting for it to switch over so they can buy the lens(es) they want to have or re-sell later on. :p

It is almost like how when a concert is announced and you go to buy your tickets on Ticketmaster, only to find out there are only marginal seats left . . .but you log onto Stub Hub and there are all the tickets you want there, but for 15-20% more than Ticketmaster was selling.

Well, our forum has turned into Stub Hub during these refurb sales and Canon is Ticketmaster.

I'm guilty.

I've bought refurbs and sold them at a higher value. I've made several hundreds doing that.

Hell I just made $200 buying a 300 2.8L and reselling it a month later.

Most items you buy are through resellers, aka middleman. Nothing new...

I HATE both Ticketmaster and Stub HUB, but I guess that's just the Pearl Jam fan in me.

OT Teamspeed, but what do you think about the Pistons getting their own NBADL team now in the shift of every NBA team getting their own feeder club? IMO Kind of exciting and overdue.

Should be very interesting, we're currently in the middle of our local league poised to take the championship. Pretty fun stuff!

Has anyone ever been successful at getting an email by using "Notify Me?" While I was was fortunate to pick up the 300mm f4, I also placed a "Notify Me" on three other lenses and I have not received a single email. The 85mm 1.2 was one of them and it did restock but no email. Yes I checked my spam folder.

Anyone?

Now that you mention it, I can't remember ever getting a notify email either. I do get emails from Canon Price Watch, but generally too late to make a purchase.

Notifications from canonpricewatch actually work and have a few options. Plus CPW is an actual poster here.
