So I have been wanting a point and shoot to keep in my car or for any of those moments you don't feel like carrying a DSLR. I wanted to look at the s110/120 or g16. My nearest Target, Walmart or Best Buy do not have any of these. So I go on Best Buys site and I find out about 40 miles away from home that they have 2 of the ones above.

So I end up going after work this morning (which is 46 miles away from home, in the opposite direction of Best Buy). I get to best buy (86 miles away from the starting point of the day) and they do have both of the ones I wanted to look at (thank god).

The s120 refuses to power up, joy. And then the g16's security chain is so sensitive, I can't even really mess with the controls without the alarm going off. I stood there like an idiot for 5 minutes before anyone came over to deactivate the alarm. An associate comes over and deactivates it and within 20 seconds, the alarm is going off again.

Sooo in the end, i said screw this and left. Blah. I guess I don't need a p&s that much.

Order one. You'll have it in a few days. You can't go wrong with a Canon S1XX series. And you won't pay sales tax, and you'll probably pay less.

Best Buy sucks.

Seriously man, I swear every time I went to Best Buy to get a hands on look at the 6D or some of the recent Nikon DSLRs, the security tether thing would go off. Don't let that phase you though! Like others have said here buying from Amazon, B&H, Adorama, BuyDig, et al is worth it.

The reason I went to best buy was to try it out. I had/have no intention from buying it from there. I just refuse to buy a camera without trying them out. This stems from my general hatred from point and shoots.

I have a s100 and it's a great camera. My only complain is that the controls are a bit tiny, otherwise it fits in your back pocket easily.

I don't get the hatred of Best Buy. They price match just about every major website now, for me there is no sales tax advantage, and if there is a problem returns and exchanges are easy.

Cameras: 7D2, S100
Lenses: 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM, 18-135 STM, 24-70 f/4L IS USM, 50 f/1.4 USM,70-300L IS USM
Other Stuff: 430 EX II, Luma Labs Loop 3, CamRanger

And you won't pay sales tax

Is Amazon still getting by with that bit of unfairness to competitors?
