Simple test to test lens sharpness.

Are there any simple tests to check sharpness of the lens similar to focus tests using batteries. Bought sigma 17-50 from ebay. Need to check lens withinn 30day ebay guarantee. Focus seems to be fine.

That lens seems to be great. Sharp across the image.

Heya,

Simplest thing is to just take images. Go outside, shoot at F2.8 and check center sharpness. Then stop down to F4 and do the same on a complex image, like trees. Do the same at F8. I wouldn't bother checking sharpness past that, as it should be very sharp. The point is to see if it's sharp wide open and if not, where it gets sharp.

The bottom line is though, if it's sharp enough for you to look at your own images and you cant tell if it's sharp or not, then it's sharp enough for you.
