Fly (macro)

Im working on my macro skills and try to shoot as frequently as possible. Can you folks please comment. Thanks.

Try fixing the white balance...too orange. Looks sharp enough...and that's a fly, alright.

Get CLOSER! It's a 150 macro...you ought to be able to get closer than that!

Thanks Ronald. Ill try getting closer. Although, if i remember correctly, i couldnt focus in any closer. Im thinking of picking up some extension tubes.

This is a good example of good macro work but poor control over the background. It is unfortunate, because it doen't look like there is much that could have been done about it, but the tonal mergers between the subject and the surroundings are very detrimental. I think that problem has been exacerbated by the slight underexposure. You will notice that with the exception of his upper surfaces, the rest of the body - even the wings, are too dark.
