I just want to thank Levina for providing a link to ipernity. I will certainly give it a try and become one of their FlickR Refugee group.

People, with all due respect, you get what you pay for...it's free...if it doesn't work for you, try something else. Nothing in life is free. My guess is it was never about the photographers and their work.

I hear you, but I was one of the paying PRO customers whose account was / is still good for a few years more before the previous and current changes.

My general rule for big changes is to leave it all alone until a huge majority is in favor. OR at least give options to choose classic view or new weirdo view. I'm pretty sure the speed improvements are behind the scenes workings and not associated with the 1980s clipart cartoon current version.

That said, I hardly get any likes / comments compared to a lot of other people, but least I was happy with where I posted my photos on a public social media type location.

They say it's all about viewing photos, but now all I see is complicated looking technical data on the side of every photo.

I'm still a paying member with a Pro account...

Likewise here.

Hot dog...got it.

Open your photo in Flickr, click on the three dots at the right, download all sizes, view all sizes, pick the size you'd like, right click where it says 'download (size)', copy link location then past that in your post here as you always have.

What an ass ache.

About the Pro Account. Yes, the Pro accounts are gone in that you can't buy it anymore, because as amamba says, they don't want your money now, they want clicks and views for the advertisers!
However, existing Pro Accounts were honoured. We could keep them and even renew them. The little red notice: Pro behind the name to indicate the member had a Pro Account disappeared though, so you can't see it anymore. I suspect it was removed for the "benefit" of the advertisers, because they have no use for members with a Pro Account as they don't get to see their ads and my guess is that Yahoo/flickr doesn't want their advertisers to know how many still have such a paying add-free account.

ipernity is nice. But it too has its quirks of course. Not one site is perfect. But ipernity looks pretty much exactly as flickr did before the big metamorphosis last year May. I also have a 500px account, but don't do much there. Flickr and ipernity have a sense of community that I think 500px is lacking. But tastes differ and it may be a good alternative to flickr for some.

Been hearing a lot about this new Flickr but as of yet mine hasn't updated. They could have told me they were getting rid of the paid for option before taking my money a few months ago though. Will give it a try when it does update as I only really use it as a way to backup all my photos/videos and to post images to forums, might be for my level of use the experience isn't too awful.

Always liked the look of the 500px site but it seem geared more towards pro photographers than as a way for amateurs to backup all their stuff, though I could be wrong (and do like that the full paid option gives you your own website).

One reason I stick to Flickr is the seamless integration with Lightroom. My version of LR only has plugins for Flickr and Smugmug; I don't really care for manually generating JPEGs and uploading to a photo site via a browser. And, there's another problem there: dunno if it's LR or the new Flickr but LR now takes ages to transfer. :(

^ ipernity has several options for uploading, including a plugin that allows uploading directly from within Lightroom.

Unfortunately, the plugin does not work with LR 3. :( :(

I've no problem with changing how to get the links etc Things like that always change.

I just think it looks S**T now with the comments etc down the side..... I preferred it visually with the description, comments etc underneath & the option of lightbox to view on black at a bigger size at the click of a button....

I'll guess we'll have to get used to it or go somewhere else.....
