Hey everyone, Im looking for some help. I currently have a 5d mark ii with a heavy investment in lenses and lighting. I sold my 7d out of lust for an x100s, which is a great camera. However only compatible with my canon lighting.

I have my second and third booked weddings coming up and Im wondering what camera I should buy for a back up. I currently have a rebel xt from way back in the day and Im not entirely confident in its capabilities (heavily used).

Im toying with the idea of getting a sony or fujifilm with a canon mount or should I just stick with canon and buy another markii or ???

Im thinking about spending around 1500.... but Im not firm.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

Get another 5d body, or a crop body with a similar menu/button layout

If you are shooting with 2 bodies, they really need to be as close to identical as possible, to stop any "where the f*** is that button" moments under stress - somethingyou really dont need during a wedding.

Keep the XT as an emergency backup, but shooting with two bodies is the way to go.

I'd rather have been able to use CF cards in my 6D, but other than that it's an awesome camera.

A wedding isn't a good place to be fumbling around looking for camera settings. Get a matching body, or at least a model that has substantially similar control layout and function.

Should have kept your 7D. I use 24-70 or 24-105 on 5D2 FF and 70-200 2.8 on 7D.

Call me crazy but I just bought a 6D haha and yes I should have kept my 7D.... lesson learned.

Hows that phrase go? Two full frames are better than one

I think the more you use your 6D the better you'll like it.
