These are fairly soft I know, the original shows what I was working with after cropping in. Still curious as to what you all think, as we plan to use it in some way for a mother's day present for my mother-in-law. It doesn't have to be competition worthy, just want to maximize it's potential.

I think I prefer it in colour, although if think you've gone a touch far with the lightening on his face. Maybe a slightly closer crop?

Thanks! I will tone down the exposure later on the face and see how it works

Sure for a snapshot. I see you chime in on everyone's critique requests. Where are your pics?

Oh c'mon Chubby, if you've a beef about me report me to a moderator.

As a matter of fact, and I don't really see why I should explain this to you because it isn't any of your business, I'm an elderly housebound person afflicted with a chronic heart condition which prevents me from pursuing photography. I egan my photography in the 1960's and continued until four years' ago.

As I've said, if you feel I've no right to be here, tell a moderator! You may also start a poll to solicit the views of other members. I'm sure there are some of them who also comment butt don't post images.

I don't normally get angry but I am on this occasion!

I explained in one of my posts before that I like to view the work of people who critique me. It's mostly curiosity, but can sometimes help weigh the merit of the advisor.

I wasn't being offensive. Sorry you got your depends in a bunch.

Thank you for that. I trust the debacle is behind us and we'll both accept the forum for what it is, ie a friendly place where we share opinions but refrain from making personal attacks :)

And thank you - I'm sorry I sounded off which was largely because of my personal frustration at not being able to pursue this hobby and many other things, including working with wood, I used to enjoy. Being able to join in here means a great deal to me and I'm ready to concede that I'm by no means an expert.

Kind regards :)

Yea I can't imagine. Well, I sort of can. I treat cancer patients with radiation (in my last semester of a 2500hr clinical program to be licensed) I deal with sickness everyday, and while it really sucks, in so many cases your outlook can define your outcome. Not to say positivity cures, but it beats **** your way to death.

Now I don't mean to say your this crotchety person, just givin some anecdotal support.

I like the B&W but I wonder if you might sharpen it some and pump up the blacks a bit.

+1 about the blacks on the last image.

I like the b/w and love his expression.

B&W could have been better had this been in focus

Thanks! I'll try this. By pump up do you mean move to the + or - side in Lightroom? I imagine negative to make the blacks a bit more prominent?

Agreed. It wasn't a planned shoot or anything, just crappy living room daylight. My wife may have even took this one. Yea, I'll go with that excuse! Lol

Where's the focal point? Maybe the link is too low of res but the entire thing seems OOF.
I'd like #2 more if the HDR effect was toned down just a bit.
The B&W is the strongest IMO.
