First time doing portraits of the kids. I'm pretty new to photography and but I've been lurking around here for about 6 months trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can. Shot with a Canon T1i and a rented 85 1.8

Great shots....good focus. Only thing I see that could be improved is the framing/cropping of #2 and #3....too much on top and cropped at the bottom.

#2 and #4 are the winners for me!

I just wish we could see her mouth on #2...that would complete the picture and show us her determination to make that throw. Great job of getting down to shoot at her level.

#4. Also a great job of getting down to his level. I think the look is of "expectation". Is someone throwing a ball to him? He looks like he's about to catch something and he's engaged and happy about it.

Neither #2 nor #4 has the model looking at the camera...usually a way to engage the viewer...but, in this case, it appears the kids are engaged in something else.

I like them. Thank you for sharing your work. Welcome to POTN!

Image editing OK, encouraged, and expected. Thank you for helping me learn!

Here are my (admittedly) amateur opinions... I like 1, would have been great to have her turned toward the camera a bit but hey it's kids.
2 the top of the fence it a bit slanted in the back ground. it can be straightened in post but it's something I try to keep in mind. Love the genuine expression and good depth of field with the ball being soft focus. I agree with cpam.pix too about seeing all the mouth but hey they're kids
3 again we have a slanted pole, either crop it out or straighten (it really drew my attention)
4 this one I can't put my finger on it the face is very light and maybe a little blue?

Overall I LOVE the expressions and looks nice work!
