I am looking at getting another camera body. Wanting to go up to a full frame. So for you that have or had these cameras, which do you think would work best .

My main things I shoot are landscapes, wildlife, airshows, flowers. With occasional portraits.

I know the 1D outshines the 5D as far as frames per second. With that said, I am not a speed freak. SO that kind of takes the back burner but, is still in the decision making. Although just a small part.

Thanks for any help in adance

If you're wanting to go full frame, the 5D is the obvious choice. All 1D bodies excluding the 1Ds series and the 1DX have a 1.3x crop factor, so that is something to consider.

1D3 is leaps and bounds light years ahead in AF...the 5DII has the same AF system that was in the original 5D

I have the original 1D and the original 1Ds, and despite their age, both have absolutely incredible AF performance. I can only assume that both the 1D III and 5D II perform very well and would rarely let you down. With that being said, I have not used either personally, so take that into consideration. What will you primarily be shooting?

And the same as the 30D before them.

The 5d2 can do all of the things you mention in your OP but you are going to have to work harder on the moving subjects to get a good ratio of keepers. The 1d3 is still capable of really good IQ and will make it much easier with moving subjects but its upper limit for IQ is probably a bit below that of the 5d2

It all comes down to which features serve you better.

FF or 1.3x
20.1 MP or 10.1 MP
Good AF or Stellar AF
3.9 FPS or 10 FPS

Etc...

Not used a 1D3, but currently use a 1D4 (my favourite camera by far). I did have a5D2 - absolutely loved it, but it was let down by its rather basic AF. But takes stunning images. Even my ancient 1Ds2 has a far superior AF to the 5D2

I have a 5D3 as well, but the 1D4 is the camera I always reach for first - the AF, the ergonomics, the quality of its images.

Not used a 1D3, but if it is anything like the 1D4, that is what I'd be going for.

1D4 + 1Ds2 + 5D3 + 7D: 100-400L, 300 f/2.8 ISL, 70-200 f/2.8 II ISL, 24-105L, 16-35L, [COLOR=Red][COLOR=Black]180L macro, 135L, 100 L macro, 85L, 8-15 fish eye

If you are considering the 5D II, please consider the 6D instead.
They are basically the same price for the body and the 6D is rock solid in low light.
But it can't beat the AF system in the 1DIII
