manual flash exposure on YN 565 EX

Hi all
I have for about 6month a YN 565ex with my 550D. Since than I also bought a 60D and when I wanted to take some "far" distance shots of a owl in a tree I realized i can't set the flash to "manual" when on the camera. I first thought it is only with the 60D but it is now also with the 550. I know for a fact that I could change this setting before!
It still works of camera, but as soon as I connect the flash it goes back to ETTL.
Pls help where I can find the camera setting for this specific external flash control.

I think I know where you can go, but are you in the fully automatic mode on the camera?
