Herringbone Question

It appears there is more than one style of Herringbone Strap. I understand the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 but I'm seeing a tapered version and a rounded version. The rounded is more matte finished while the angled version is shinier.
There doesn't seem to be any model numbers or other descriptive references to the two as iot pertains to identification/ordering.
The word "Heritage" seems to be common to both.
It would seem when ordering one takes pot luck.
Can anyone shed some light on this subject?
Thanks for any input!

Tapered / angled:

I think the one that has been around for many years is that shown at http://www.ebay.com …Grips&hash=item27d03953a8 (external link) which resembles your rounded version. That particular dealer is also quite good and reliable. He maintains his stock in California eliminating the risk of a shipment from Korea.

John from PA, Thanks so much! I'll try him.

Well, I decided to try him from eBay, too. Just placed it on order.

Those hand straps look great, I've been searching one similar for a while. Just ordered, will see how it turns out.

At the risk of sounding elitist, I'm going to recommend the strap that I use on all three of my bodies, the Markins leather strap. Elitist because it's twice the price of the Herringbone strap, but if you look at the photos on the site, (external link) you'll see it has a padded leather interior side. It's also softer leather, and both those features make it very comfortable and wearable for hours, even with a 100-400 lens on the camera, and I've done that. Korea is becoming the home of some fine camera accessories.

The other thing is that the cut of the strap moves it to to the top of hand nearer to the wrist than other straps. It means you can relax your grip on the camera and the strap is still snugly on your hand.

Owners of the Herringbone can chime in about whether that strap breaks in to be comfortable.

The Markins leather strap looks very nice. Is it Korean made?

My Herringbone strap was estimated to arrive today, but being delivered by USPS, it's OF COURSE not going to be here today. If the Herringbone doesn't work out, I'll try the Markins.

Yes, Korean. Of course, better known for ballheads.

tvphotog,

I use a Herringbone strap on my 60D. It isn't bad but when I got my 70D, I thought I'd try the Markins strap. The Markins strap doesn't need a break in period to be comfortable. I'm not sure it will stretch like the Herringbhone did. The Herringbone had a pretty lengthy break-in period, i.e., several months. What has your experience been with the Markins?

Overall, I am much happier with the Markins, even given its price point. It looks nicer, less hmmmm cluttered and it just feels better.

I'm also trying to avoid being elitist and until I owned the Markins, I was quite happy with the Herringbone strap.
