Can I convert my pictures...from colour to black + white...within my Canon G 12 camera ?

In my Pentax DSLR's I can go to digital filter in the camera menu and after a couple of steps convert my taken photos to B+W.

Is there a way to convert colour photos to B+W in the G 12 ?

Thanks,

Les

Its possible, but you will get much better conversions doing it in software rather than simply shooting in monochrome.

I certainly agree that an external s/w conversion will give you much more control. That said, if you shoot in RAW and have the style set to b&w, you'll have a sense of what you're getting as you shoot.

Not sure if you got the message or not but just to add few words;

Don't even think of hurting the camera physically. That is only if you think of converting it to IR etc.
Check with your supplied manual that came in the box with your camera and if you have lost them, check Canon's support site for a download from this:

Page 30 gives you all you should do. Simple and free.

On the other hand if you use Photoshop or a better software than what came with your camera, you will be able to Not only turn image into B&W but each individual color of image, say Red or Green can be made stronger or weaker in your conversion and thus significantly help you to change the appearance of final image to your taste for a better final effect. That is what other friends are referring to.
Hope this helped.
