I really don't know what people are complaining about. This thread isn't about 7DII rumors, it's really just a question about how long between official announcement and release.

*if* indeed the 7d2 gets announced in the area of May as has been suggested by various rumor sites...what is your guess how long it will take to bw available retail?

Phoenixkh wrote in post #16807564 (external link)
It's always hard to tell but the 70D was announced on July 2nd and showed up at people's houses on August 21st last year.

I actually have had a postman deliver packages on Sunday, in fact got one just yesterday. They all seem to be packages originally shipped via UPS where UPS handed off to USPS for last mile delivery.

The first time it happened I was so concerned that I'd lost track of the date (and missed a day of work) that I had to check my phone, TV and computer all twice before I calmed down.

...Which could have been, and has been answered in the other 7DmkII threads...

Whatever, just kind of sick of seeing 8 concurrent 7D2 threads with no new actual 7D2 information/rumours.

I know, I know, you don't have to read them and all that, but I just question the need to start another when there are already so many...

No doubt, why just the other day as I was walking through Wallymart when I overheard a guy talking to his friend about when he was in BestBuy he overheard this other guy who had heard that last week a Canon salesmen was shopping and told a customer to hold off because the 7DII was going to be announced any month now. That's got to be golden for at least a CR2.

I'll say it again. I think Canon is dragging their feet because the 7D2 has probably already been surpassed by other cameras that are already on the market. How embarrassing would it be for them to bring out a successor to a 5 year old camera that is already passed by? Just my opinion of course.

You can repeat it 1,000,000 times if you want, but that doesn't add a smidgen of evidence to your opinion.
It's a rumor forum and everyone is making up isht (including me). That doesn't make it any more true that it is...

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

Isn't Canon used to having other cameras surpass each time it comes up with a new camera model?

Having your new camera surpassed is not a bad thing. Putting out a new camera that does not even match the competition is not. I have suspected that Canon has had a 7DII ready several times and each time a competitor put something out first making the replacement look lame. 5 years is an awful long time between models and with each passing month expectations keep growing.
