That is a link to a paid tutorial. I have poked around but can't quite find anything that explains the process. I'd rather not drop the $25 they are charging for the video unless I have to.

Thanks to anyone that can help out or point me in the right direction!

Try a solid color layer for the background and a graduated mask layer to reveal it. Looks simple enough.

I think that Angela might be over-ranking her self-importance a little bit. I think a comprehensive tutorial - from lighting thru processing - on something like how to duplicate the Dave Hill look (external link) might be worth $25, but a tutorial on basic masking? No, don't think so. They're available, free of charge, all over the internet.

Yes, layers and masks. Maybe even with the help of a masking plugin, such as that produced by Topaz, could achieve good results easily enough.

Glad I wasn't the only one that thought that was a bit steep. Thank you for the help.

Gonna dig out the RAW's of my, now 5 months old, newborn shoot and re work my favorites and try some new stuff. If I remember I'll add them up here and explain what I learned. :)

Just use a new layer and use a soft brush and brush in colour, mask it, use eraser to fine tune. Done :)

Or duplicate the original, blur it to buggery then mask it off, done :)

$24 for that tutorial? Wow...
