Is there any way to get the shutter count without sending it to Canon for the 7D?

Thanks,
Catherine

You can get a reading here at this site, I think it costs a couple of dollars for each reading:

http://www.eoscount.com/ (external link)

It does work for 7D.

There are other free options, but may take a bit more work, just search for shutter count.

As an alternative you could install Magic Lantern.
MagicLantern can show you the shuttercount on the LCD screen.

Last version is 2009 - I don't think it works with the 7D.

I have used a zip file that is downloadable from different sites, called ShutterCount-win_x862.

You could try www.eoscount.com (external link) as well, not sure though.

ShuuterCount.app (external link) on Mac costs $2.00 once and works unlimited times on Canon DSLR's even without internet access once installed.

If you have a Mac, you can just use gphoto2 for free.

You can get it here if it's still on dropbox.

EDIT - Never mind, it appears the download is dead now. Link removed.

Nope, didn't work. I think that there was some sort of copyright infringement involved.
