Does anyone add a little saturation boost to their images as a default setting in LR? My whole world has been flipped upside down since calibrating my display yesterday with regards to color. I usually add around 5 when I'm processing landscapes but what is common with processing portraits or people? Vibrance?

I prefer vibrance instead of saturation. It's sort of like the difference between a meat clever and a scalpel. Of course, if you pull the black point in on the tone curve it has the same effect. ;)

+1
By default, I have the saturation at 5, but often go as high as 40 on the vibrance slider.

Definitely vibrance; it won't screw with the skin tones (as much), compared to saturation.

I for one am not a saturation "junkie"...:)

It's rare for me to resort to something like the Landscape Picture Style (or Lightroom/ACR Profile) because they tend to "amp up" the saturation in a way that usually doesn't appeal to me. "Vibrance" is a bit more subtle, although I don't often resort to that either.

However, one thing I do tend to "hit up" is shots with blue skies, but I use the HSL panel to work them over and I don't have a "set" technique/approach there. In fact my most frequent adjustment for blue skies is to lower the Luminosity of the Blue channel, rather than just resort to the Saturation!

While I do prefer vibrance for people, I find I need to add a small amount of saturation (like +5) under certain lighting conditions, or if I've had to alter the exposure too much.

I never touch the Saturation slider. If I think anything needs a boost I will use the HSL panel and selectively tweak a particular color range, but even that is rare. Pulling down the luminance of the sky using the TAT can be helpful and I use that quite often. Vibrance and Clarity I use 99.9% of the time.

Vibrance, clarity, and usually a bit of black point adjustment. Rarely saturation for the reasons others have stated. My favorite film was Velvia. I like a saturated but not garish look.

Oh, and adding to my previous post (+5 saturation, up to 40 vibrance) ... I find that I often have to desaturate my greens; everything else can be fine, but my greens are off.

I use saturation rarely and lightly unless for some reason I'm trying to be over the top for an effect. I prefer using the individual color channels in the HSL/Color/B&W panel to tweak the saturation and luminance for specific colors separately.

I apply minimal Saturation (5 or less) in Lightroom. If the subject contains a solid red, especially in a prominent place, I'll apply zero. Nothing compromises the red channel high end like widely and generously-applied saturation. I do adjust vibrance but also minimally. I prefer to adjust saturation in LAB mode in Photoshop. I convert back to RGB when finished with color work. In Photoshop I can better monitor and protect the red channel in photos containing solid or bright reds. In most cases I'll select the red area(in LAB), select Inverse and apply saturation to all preferred areas. If the red area can tolerate some saturation increase I'll apply some, keeping an eye on the red channel.

I find I get that extra boost if I switch to Camera Standard.
