I'm new to portraits, and really to photography in general. Are the eyes too sharp? Skin too soft? Teeth too white? Also, what about the watermark? Lay it on me! Any suggestions would be greatly accepted.

Hold your hand over the right side of the (VERY yellow) image & see if it doesn't look better to you.

Is this better? I can't believe I didn't see how yellow that was before! Blech!

Much better with the new crop and less yellow. I really don't think little kids need their skin softened. Personally, I'd back off on that, as well as a bit on the eyes and a bit on the teeth. He's a really cute little kid. Great job capturing his expression.

Here are two more that are a little less intense:

Better, the teeth in the first one are a bit scary.

I find the tilted angle a little bit distracting personally.

That works much better for me, but he's still a little yellow. The balance in the first one in your post #5 looks best to me.

Yes. Way too much post. Teeth ay too bright. Skin too soft. Eyes are good and you appear to have fixed the yellow cast. As for watermarks, yours is nice, but you'll find there are two camps on this and I'm in the camp that says that if you aren't putting something awesome up that you want to protect or use to promote you, don't screw with watermarks. It's almost humorous to see thousands of photos which aren't much more than snapshots with watermarks. And I don't mean this to sound rude, but none of those images look like something someone is going to bother stealing. I don't screw with them on the majority of my own work either for the same reason. When I do use a watermark, I make it pretty darned small and subtle so as not to distract from the image.
