My biggest fear is what if Paypal "Ok'd" the transaction and it turned out as scam? I don't know what's my recourse and for $1400, I don't want to take risks.

I know everyone has to start somewhere (regarding feedbacks) but I don't feel too good about this one. I think I will just issue a refund.

Initially, I thought it's fine, especially when he said there's no rush in shipping since he won't be back in US after 3 months.

If there is no rush, then why not just hold it until the funds are verified as being in your account for withdrawal?

I think people are too quick to jump on the scam bandwagon with little or no evidence.

So very true! I am reading that you still have the item you recieved PayPal payment for and the funds are frozen in your account until verified and released by PayPal.

Two things can happen here: Your funds are unfrozen and you can access your money and you ship item to purchaser, OR PayPal says the transaction was bogus or something and remove said funds from your account and you find a new buyer for the goods you still have in your sweaty little hands!

You need to read a bit more, the OP already addressed it.

Better to jump too soon and just lose a sale vs jumping too late and getting scammed.

But anyone wanting to use Google must most specifically not call something whatever they want. Invented terms doesn't work well with Google...

matter which decision he makes. So moved on with your lives and take more pictures then waste time of trying to find out who right or wrong.

Now you have to produce a quote. Because there isn't anywhere in this - or any other - thread where I have offered my opinion if this is a scam or not.

That is a scam big time.

Its not a scam. PayPal does that often to ensure that the payment is legit if its something that isn't usual with their PayPal account. Kind of like the fraud department from your credit card calling you to confirm if the charges made were from you.

thinkharder wrote in post #16821857 (external link)
its the nigerian scams , they do this with craiglist .

First off, OP said the item is being shipped to a CONFIRMED US address. Not once did he say he was shipping overseas. Secondly, the buyer can be in the Army, Navy, Marines, etc. serving our country but helping someone purchase something. For all we know, he could be a photographer overseas and since family members could be sending a care package, might as well send it to a US address so they can ship it.

Shipping to a APO address can be a hassle.

Shipping to a CONFIRMED US address, you're protected under PayPal policies.
