Can someone tell me how to get the old battery door off so I can put the new one on. They didn't send any instructions with the replacement.

Never mind. I figured it out. You slide a small screw driver between the door and hinge and push the little locking tab down to release.

so if ordering one of these units, is it virtually required to order a couple of replacement doors?

YN568ex or YN568EX II? As I understand it the YN568ex never had a problem with the doors and the YN568EX II should have had the battery door fixed as of build dates later than Oct 2013 according to http://flashhavoc.com/yongnuo-yn-568ex-ii-canon/ (external link)

actually, the link provided in your link says that both flash units "had" the problem. Thanks for the reminder though, I think I had seen that before. It's been one of those days.

Thanks, You are correct. I could not remember and I did not re-read it when posting. I just remember reading that it was fixed on the II when I purchased my II.

Where did you get replacement doors from, out of curiosity?

Try an email to service@hkyongnuo.com (external link).

My YN580EX (original) door latches failed. I used a 1/4-20 UNC thread tap (carefully) into the body behind, and used a standard tripod screw to hold it closed. Works fine.
