Thanks again for the explanations and tips. I was using AWB that day, since it seemed to be doing OK. I don't have enough knowledge yet to understand how the image looks warm, but I'll keep working on it.

You are going to like this!
I took your second image into PhotoshopCS2 (although any imaging program can do this) and measured the RGB values at several critical points in your picture. At every point that I sampled the R, G, and B channels were within 1 unit of one another (that's one part in 256). In other words there is no "warm" or "cool" with respect to your image - it is perfectly neutral gray. So the commenter has a problem with his monitor calibration. Your picture is correct for a monochrome.
