On a Friday night, a friend asked if I could someday take some decent pictures of his car, because he didn't have any good pictures of it. Saturday morning I asked if he was free later that day, how far he would be comfortable driving to, and later that day, chose a spot I had been to before that was minutes from his house. We started and finished the shoot that day. Unfortunately I had a lot of throwaways due to lens flare (even with a hood), trash, or damage/dirt on the car that would take a lot of time to remove in Photoshop.

Shot in an indoor garage during the daytime. Fluorescent/sun (mixed) lighting. Editing work done by myself.

Equipment used:
T4i
18-135 STM
70-200 f2.8 L
Dolica CF 60" Tripod (ZX600B103) | Dolica ball head
LR5.3 | Photoshop CC

Hey! They are all good but nothing great. I am a car nut and like to see creative shots. Other than the background they are pretty bland. I would of liked to see the background a bit darker to have the texture there but the car stand out. Something that gives them a bit more .......uumph!!

My best, & simplest advice is to wash it & take it outside. Look at the highlights in these: White cars

Or do something like this: https://photography-on-the.net …p?p=9285903&postcount=100

These don't seem horrible to me, but just suffer from bad PP - can you post the originals and turn on image editing ok?

Based on the two suggestions, I edited one of them a bit more to see if you guys like this better...

I told the owner to wash it, but he missed a few spots. Unfortunately I didn't have any quick detailer on hand to touch it up, so all I was able to use was some interior detailer and a used up microfiber... I'll have a full quick detail kit in the car next time I have a paying customer.

Here's one... I try to shoot it a hair overexposed to help with noise since the T4i and 7D tend to have extreme noise issues. Link to more sizes. (external link)

PP was fun with these. In this shot you can see at least three different light temperatures. The mix of temps is what made me decide to desaturate all but the reds and most of the polished aluminum wheels.

Bueller?

I showed the re-edit around to some car guys and they seemed to like it a lot more.

It looks overexposed/overcontrasty, green, and the background/foreground is extremely bright and blurred... Not digging it. Any explanation why you chose that style (or particular portions of it)? Thanks for taking the time to critique + edit + post.

Welp. Seems like this thread has run its course. Turning off Image Editing OK and removing the originals for now. Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I'll be re-editing the pics to make them pop more with the editing technique I went with in post #5.

Why would you do that? What would then be the point of me explaining what I did?

1) I don't want the originals out in the wild forever. Just my preference.
2) It seemed like very few people were interested in helping, and of the few that were, almost nobody followed up within days of their posts despite multiple thread bumps. Honestly, it felt like there wasn't any interest. I can always change it back if people have constructive criticism to provide. If for some reason you want to continue editing an original, I will gladly change it back. As of now I have not re-edited any more pictures.
