I have just installed the Colormunki Display calibrator ok but cannot get the reminder to actually work. I understand that my selection in the prefs of one week for it to remind me to recalibrate is set ok but now learn that this possibly only applies to the ambience lighting calibration, not the screen. Has anyone else got this unit and have the same problem? I thought that the reminder was there to prompt a total recalibration of screen and ambience, not just one!

Mine reminded me so well that I got tired of it reminding me and turned it off. Now I just calibrate if I am going to do some PP work. The reminder would be for the whole process not just ambient.

If you have it set to automatically check ambience and recalibrate, it will never remind you, as it's constantly recalibrating. So, you never hit a week.

However, if you leave the Colormunki unplugged or if you're running a dual monitor setup and don't use the second monitor for a week, it'll remind you.

Does your really work that way? Mine only reminds me if I leave the colorimeter unplugged, or don't plug in the second monitor for a week. Weird.

As I said above does this mean that it is only recalibrating the ambience level automatically? It would appear so. It cannot measure the screen unless it is placed onto the screen right? So there lies the rub! No reminder for that. I am hearing from Xrite that we are probably correct in that the light pulse on the calibrator signifies it is constantly updating the ambience readings. So I guess no actual reminder for the screen eh?

Yeah, not sure. I think that it remembers the monitor output, from the last time, and then uses that to build a "new calibration" with the current ambience level. I'm talking out my ass though. After you phrased it the way you did, in your last post, and TTuna Eye's post, it makes me wonder if there is not something wrong with my setup. I have done hdd replacement and an occasional spring cleaning format/reinstall though, and it has always been this way for me. I'm also not sure what I could have messed up, though, as it's a fairly straight forward setup. I do a full recalibration from time to time anyway, since I'm just anal like that.

This may have something to do with your user account settings. X-Rite assumes that you have an Administrator account (or so their customer service told me a couple of years ago). Since I always run as a limited user, I found it easier to just have my Google Calendar send me an E-mail reminder about re-calibration.

Well as an epitaph to all this I can say I tried it plugged in and unplugged, switched on and off, full moon, Saturn in ascendancy, and every which way but still no reminder of any sort! All a bit annoying when you pay out a princely sum and don't get what it says on the tin! :(
