I was taking some pics in my backyard when I spotted two large prey birds very high over me fighting. Next thing I know this guy goes over me and I spot a large redddish spot which I thought was a wound of some kind. Pics showed otherwise. I believe that a Red Tailed Hawk was trying to take the Osprey colorful catch. These are kind of a heavy crop but the catch is clear enough...a bright red fish! (anyone knows what fish this is??)

Good job on the captures, Oscar. No idea on the fish.

Somebody lost a Koi pond fish, or maybe a local park pond that was stocked with goldfish.

It's definitely not a Koi or a goldfish, I have had them, they don't look like that very much, but it is sure gold
That seems to be a red fish from the ocean to me, I looked at quite a few on Google, but don't know what it is. When I say, "red fish", I don't mean, 'redfish', but just a red colored fish. :)

It appears to have a caudal tail fin straight at the back, and the soft dorsal and anal fins are pointed, that ought to mean something to a fish person, who will hopefully show up soon.

Very cool shot too, by the way!

Which coast are you on?

I live in Vega Baja, in the northen coast of Puerto Rico. My house is a few steps away from Laguna Tortuguero, aprox 10 minutes to the beach. It must be a brackish water fish, IMO.

I looked again, it doesn't appear to be either of the fish you mentioned, but, that doesn't mean it's not, I'm only going by the shape of all of the fins.
I guess it'll remain a mystery until someone that 'knows' for sure comes forward.

It's still a cool shot though!:)

(By the way, neither of your links worked for me)

That one may be indeed. It looks very close. Thanks!

Heya,

Looks like a little red snapper to me, but maybe not.

Otherwise, neat shots.

Very best,
