Oh yeah, that'd be nice. But so would an upgraded 24-70/2.8 (doesn't need to be the f/2.0 of the 2014 rumours), ultrawide zoom or ~135mm/2.0

There was an interview with Sigma about a week ago and they mentioned the 85 was high on the list but the general consensus was the 24-70 2.8 OS which is what I'm waiting on.

Originally I figured they would keep the same optical formula as their current 85 but this kinda leads me to believe it will be a new formula. Why?... well it wouldn't be hard to create an ART body for the current lens configuration like they did on the 120-300 sport. If they were then why not release quickly... but they are holding back so this tells me they got more up their sleeve.

I bet you anything they want even better 85 IQ. They want their "Art" series to turn into the new Ziess haha

well their 35 IMO beats any ~35mm Zeiss out there and their 50 is so close to matching the Otus that it's just not fair when you throw in AF. An 85Art would have to be aimed at the 85 Otus. And maybe they are looking at trying to match some of the subjective (non-sharpness) qualities of the top 85's like the L, 1.4G and Otus too.

Keep the same formula... But add OS? It would keep with the strategy of hitting Canon where they aren't.

I agree. Sigma should be creating a competitor to the Otus but with an AF motor. I'm hoping that it will have apochromatic glass to eliminate chromatic aberrations. No more purple fringing!
