Ok so I haven't used my 5d2 in a while and I'm on firmware 2.0.8' my question is that if I update to the newest firmware will my camera automatically get the old version firmware in between ? That is can I go from 2.0.8 straight to 2.1.2? Or will I need to do the earlier updates first?

Thanks for the help

From the download page on the Canon web site:

" Important:
Firmware Version 2.1.2 is for cameras with firmware up to Version 2.1.1. If the camera's firmware is already version 2.1.2, it is not necessary to update the firmware. "

So I guess you are Ok to install.

Yes thanks,
My question though is if I have 2.0.8 now, can I load 2.1.2 and by doing so still get the updates in between the 2 automatically?
Or by going from 2.0.8 to 2.1.2 will I not get the benefits of say 2.0.9 and so on?

Yes, you get all the "in-between" updates by loading the latest.
