I threw this together, and I am sure I will upset some, and I probably have some boxes in the wrong place, but I would love to see camera ratings this way. It's just me though. I probably should have more metric lines on there too (DOF control, etc), but this is a good start. I ran out of vertical room on the slide.

Staggered boxes mean they basically occupy the same ranking, very close touching boxes mean they are obviously very close. I had to leave room in certain spots because we do have the SL1 as an extreme for size, and the discontinued APS-H line for "reach", if somebody wanted to add other cameras to this.

Now this is really neat. Damn you for being the voice of reason yet again. lol

This thread has taken an interesting (?) turn...

If I may chime in, first of all, I think TeamSpeed is right in terms of the high ISO difference between a 5D2 and a 70D.
The 5D2, although old, is still superior to the 70D at pretty much any ISO.
The 70D is about 1/3 stop better than the 7D, owned both for half a year and compared them thoroughly. The 5DII was about 1 stop better than the 7D. So there is no way that a camera that is about 1/3 stop better than the 7D now is on par with the 5DII.
I mean my 6D is close to 2 stops better than my 70D, both in real world shots and my testing too. 6D is about a stop better than the 5DII at high ISOs.
So I'd still give this battle to the 5DII, no matter how much I like my 70D.

And then there is the 70D AF problem with lenses faster than 2.8. In Germany this seems to be a significant issue, but here in the US it doesn't; a quick look in the 70D AF problem thread shows that the vast majority of people in North America don't have this problem.
What I did notice is that my 70D's AF is very sensitive to the wavelength of the light I shoot in. Incandescent makes my lenses backfocus a bit compared to fuller spectrum natural light. I always have to keep that in mind when I set my MFA.

I have no comment on the 5DIII vs 6D, if a horse had 9 lives like a cat, it would still be dead :)

I understand in eyes of many photographers, this formula applies every time : bigger cost = bigger sensor = better IQ.
no matter old tech... it simply cant be better, it´s still FF.... It´s like Macbook Pro among lousy laptops and so called ultrabooks for poor people....

I never accept that, Just burn me as rest of heretics... :)

I can supply a Photoshop file for those that want to do this in the future for other camera bodies. Not the greatest of medium for that kind of work though. :)

If we were to always compare cameras this way, perhaps we could get past the generic vague "which camera is better" topics, and instead do a grading of the different factors. Some of the factors could be a bit subjective, so one person could have a different arrangement than another, which is fine.

On my private cloud, I might pull it if volume affects my network.

The focus points are too close together. Would have been nice if the auto focus points fell on the 4 intersections in the Rule of Thirds grid. Sucks for composing shots.

Wouldn't say the camera is great at tracking/fast focus. Never had any luck until I grabbed a 7D.

My thoughts exactly. Even with a 200mm f/2L IS my 5D2 had trouble tracking a kid on a bicycle in AI Servo mode. Since my main shooting is landscapes and walkaround stuff, I can't complain about the AF speed/ability, but coming from a 1D2 to a 5D2 and having a 1D3 at the same time..... Yeah, I do not like the 5D2 af. But it is mostly because of the point spread. I always wish they were not so close together.

I do kind of want a 70D as a second body for birding/wildlife and other action type things. I like the specs of the 70D and it just seems like a good crop bady that would compliment the 5D2.
