I was so happy that my flash came today. When I came home it was here waiting for me and I can hear was open me!! So that's what i did. I ripped it open put batteries took 2 shots and then came the Overheat icon. Hmm this cant be right I say. I let it sit on the table for about 10 mins and pick it back up and its very hot :( Needless to say its back in the box and gonna head back to no mans land. I am very new to flashes and to me this seems like a big defect but correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks,
Ralph

Send it back. Hopefully you bought it from Amazon or someplace the shipping will not cost you much if anything.

Mine didn't play nice with my 1ds miii but worked fine with the 5d so I sent it back as well. At the 1/160 and 1/200 sync speeds the white balance was all over the place when paired with the 1ds miii.

My sister, the professional baker and cake decorator once told me that my camera takes great pics. My reply was that I thought her oven baked great cakes.

I'm assuming you bought it for the TTL functionality? I have two manual 560YNII's but never has an issue with them.

That is correct. I did get that one for the TTL and HSS. I have the 560 II also and had no problems with it. I just figured I would ad a TTL/HSS to the bag. I hope this one is good :)

Same here. Picked it up for HSS. I'll be returning it. It doesn't work with the new Phottix TTL triggers. Time to add another Canon flash to the mix.

I was able to swap it out fast on Amazon. I shipped it and got a new one in less then 5 days. The bad one must of been used due to the way the new one came It was wrapped different and more paperwork, lol. I was on vacation and now cant wait to really play with it.

I nave owned 4 YN565s and while 3 of them have been flawless the 4th one did not communicate properly with some of my YN622 triggers. The replacement is fine. Glad for the no hassle fast return at Amazon!

I suspect that merchants are failing to check (ignorance?) and just recycling.

I assume you didn't use Lithum cells!
