Hi, im looking for a canon 24-105 in the usa so i checked in b&h and amazon and they sell it for an insane price - 1150$ and i have no idea why the price is so high.
Does anyone know where i can get it for a normal price?

You can find "white box" ones, new, for under $700. I actually just ordered one myself for around $660, brand new. White box meaning it was originally the kit lens for a 6D or something similar and was separated from the body. I don't know the rules about posting links, but it should not be hard to find. I got mine off Ebay and it appeared that the seller I got it from had many available.

Edit: I just sent you a PM.

That is the normal price for new at least. If you check your local Craigslist it will drop a bit in the used market. I have seen it much less new, but from retailers I would consider questionable. Check the Canon USA refurbished site and Adorama too for refurbs. That may be the best way to go.

Canon 7D/350D, Σ17-50/2.8 OS, 18-55IS, 24-105/4 L IS, Σ30/1.4 EX, 50/1.8, C50/1.4, 55-250IS, 60/2.8, 70-200/4 L IS, 85/1.8, 100/2.8 IS L, 135/2 L 580EX II, 430EX II * 2, 270EX II.

Last year Canon had a great rebate offer for camera, lens, and printer combo. The 24-105 was in the package I bought. I didn't want the lens, but got it just to get a good price on the camera and printer. I sold the never used lens on ebay for $600.

ebay has a lot of the 24-105 lenses on auction, perhaps due to the rebate. This may be a buying option for you.

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

It's one of the most widely available L lenses available, and by far one of the lowest priced on the secondary market. I picked up one used (but you can't tell) for under $600.

On the bargain prices, just consider that a lens with the Canon US warranty may be an advantage. Occasionally "gray" market lenses are offered and they may present warranty issues in the States. http://www.ebay.com …337f1eb158#ht_1678wt_1312 (external link) offers one for $665 shipping included.

If you are referring to my $665 number above, I can't answer your question except to say go through the steps on eBay to purchase and see if tax is in the bottom line. The alternative is to ask the seller if he has to do tax since the State where purchased is Massachusetts.

Actually I referred to joekites, he found a little bit cheaper one - http://www.ebay.com …85&lgeo=1&vectorid=229466 (external link)
but both of the sellers say that they will charge tax if they ship within NY..

That is the link to their website to the Canon 24-105's. I haven't done business with them personally, but I have heard really good reviews about them from other people.

You can also check Amazon.com and do a search for
"Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens White Box"
There are quite a few results.
