I currently have the 5DII which I upgraded to from the 60D. There was a feature on my 60D which I loved in Manual mode and that was I was able to set my aperture and shutter speed, set it on auto ISO and the ISO would adjust to what I wanted. This feature doesn't work on my 5DII so I pretty much just shoot in AV mode, but I was wondering if it does on the 5DIII?

The feature you are asking about is called Auto ISO.

If you have Auto ISO on, you aren't in actually a manual exposure mode. You are using yet another form of auto exposure (the others being Av, Tv, and P) and just fooling yourself about being in manual mode. This difference with Auto ISO is that there's no Exposure Compensation possible with it, while E.C. is possible in the other forms of auto exposure.

As you have noted, the older 5DII doesn't have Auto ISO. The newer 5DIII does have it. There are also some limits you can set, such as the highest and lowest ISO allowed. More than was possible on your 60D. But AFAIK, you still can't use Exposure Compensation.

Pretty sure it does, well in Manual video mode it did .
But it doesn't set the ISO to what you want .... It sets it to what the camera thinks is necessary. The only control you have is there is a way to customise it not to go into la la land on the ISO , so you could say limit it to a max ISO of 12,500 I think.

Yep, it was just my most preferred way of shooting on the run. I'd rather think more about the composition than all of technical settings of the shot, so this is my favorite. 5DII has auto ISO it just doesn't work well on Manual Mode. If you're in manual mode set up like this, just adjusting the shutter speed is "exposure compensation" to me :)

I'd agree with, but not in AUTO ISO mode, where the ISO will adjust to cancel out your adjustment.

Anyway, I think AUTO ISO is a cool feature that I never remember to use :)

Yes, it does.

The 5DII has auto ISO, but when you put your camera in Manual mode and auto ISO,for some reason it just stays put at ISO 400. Works fine in all other modes though

You are absolutely correct - sincere apologies. It's something I never use so I just checked that I could select it on the camera and didn't read the manual.

It's pretty weird isn't it? My friend has the 1DX and you can shoot manual modes, Auto ISO with EV compensation. Pretty nice huh?

Shoot in Tv mode, set a very fast shutter speed, and you can set auto-ISO with EC. \Set safety to ISO. See what you think. :)

I have the 5DIII and tried auto ISO but became frustrated because I didn't like the exposure choices the camera made and there is no way to compensate for it.

So I customised my SET button to ISO, which allows me to press the SET button and roll the top wheel to adjust ISO. So now I shoot in full manual mode. I just set the shutter and aperture, leave them alone and just use ISO as if it was exposure compensation. Obviously there are times when I will adjust the aperture or shutter speed but for on the fly exposure adjustments I just use ISO.

Using Auto ISO in Tv mode worked very well at the last shoot.

ISO 16000 was chosen for this

ISO 25600 for this

This is exactly what I use auto ISO for on my 5D3 -- I have it set to custom mode C2, in fact. It's great for times when I am shooting action in changing lighting conditions.
