So this morning I put my tammy up for sale and someone asked for pictures. So sure enough I set it up on the kitchen table and while repositioning I knocked it onto the floor. Curse words, mothers covering their children's ears, dogs barking... I inspect it and nothing seems to have happened to the outside. I zoom in and out and it seems to stick around the 24mm mark. While looking through the lens with both covers off I notice one of the aperture blades is in plain view. I assume the blade is either broken or off it's rigging. Not sure how it works technically.

So, has anyone gotten this repaired and if so how much? I was going to sell it for $300 so I'm not sure how much I really want to spend repairing it.

Thanks for any info anyone may have.

Oddly enough mine had a similar problem. The zoom ring would get stuck or sometimes even go further back than 17mm. This was due to the fact I tried using a reversing adaptor (telephoto lens on one side and a wide angle on the other) and when I tried to remove the adaptor, the lens must have twisted. Also, the front filter ring was very loose which I eventually fixed. I paid $230 for it in great condition and sold it for $230.

I don't think $300 would be achievable unless it were a mint copy (possibly with warranty still). No idea on repair cost though, but I imagine it wouldn't be cheap (you would probably net less selling it repaired than as-is). No guarantees though unfortunately.

Thanks for your reply. I'm getting it repaired for $150 which was right on my limit for what I was going to spend.

What's the process on getting this repaired? Are you going through Tamron for the repairs? From what I've read, you have to mail them your lens and include their form giving them authorization to a certain amount of money to do the repairs without actually knowing how much it's going to cost. I'm curious because my lens zoom ring is broken and I'm debating if I should just buy a new lens or get this one fixed.
