the first photo is spectacular. How did you process it? I would just slightly crop the top to get rid of the white.

First is very good, second one isn't necessarily bad, but it's not spectacular either.

I agree with @frugivore about #1 and i'd go one step further... crop out the flag on the right - moving the rider out of dead center... the flag isn't adding to the story.
