Film developing recommendation

So the camera shop iv been going to stopped developing film so now where i live there are no other camera shops that develop film so now i have to take it to Walgreens and they suck at it because they over expose the prints. but can anyone recommend a business i can send my film to be developed?

It certainly would be good to know where in the world you live.

By "developed", can I properly assume that you mean that you want the film developed and have prints made from the negatives? These are actually two different processes.

It would also be good to know precisely what film type(s) you use and what sort of prints you want made (sizes, materials, etc.).

The biggest issue right now is that, of the labs that have gone digital but still process film, the attention to quality control has declined precipitously. We have had major issues with negs coming back with embedded dust, indicative of a failure to keep filters in the drying stage clean. That would also tend to be an indication of shortcuts on other maintenance like cleaning chemistry filters, cleaning tar from racks, chemical process controls (or even running control strips). The negs we've gotten back from Praus have been flawless. You might find cheaper and if your time is worth nothing by all means find a cheaper lab. I'd rather spend a few bucks extra on quality processing than deal with digital retouching and crossovers.

WAAAAY cheaper than any lab, and stupid easy.

I plan to develop my c-41 35mm film my self soon when i set up a dark room and have the money to buy what i need but until then i want to sent it in to get developed and for the first reply to my question i live in the USA and to be exact Michigan any yes i want the film to be developed and a print from the negatives.

Anyway, if you really want to send your film out, the best place I know of is Richard Photo Lab. Not cheap, but top notch.

There's the problem. Most places that process film (developing is a process of making a print from film) make their prints digitally either from digital files or scanning film into a digital file to then make the print. If you do find a lab that prints optically from film, prints will be expensive.

I do not recommend them. The one time I tried them, film came back ruined. Chemical burns running down the film. They are careless. Since then I've used A&I out of California, but I think they are offering fewer film services now.
