exposure looks good, pose and expression is great,i would have liked to see a deeper depth of field to have more of the baby in focus,at least the top of the head, nice photo

I really like this one. There isn't much you can do with a newborn but you've managed to get a good pose. The tonal range works very well for me and exposure and focus work very well too. Great expression.

Nice work.

Thanks! Yea I tend to keep it pretty thin for these because it's easier to blur the background SOOC than do it in post, for me anyways till I master the PS way.

Thanks! I didn't expect him to be so alert for a 6 day old. So I just went with what he would allow. They are a little more pose friendly when they are "milk drunk"

Nice. I'd pull the crop up and to the right a smidge from the bottom-left corner.

Thanks! Yea I agree, touch too much headroom. Since this photo I've been doing more with masking techniques too, ever evolving.

I think it looks great, I'd crop in like christopher suggested.

look i took down the brightness and the contrast a bit, and then took off the yellowish color in the image .

Not a bad rendition, I do agree the original looks a touch saturated. The warmness of the baby against the gray fabric was intentional. Thanks for looking!

your welcome, tell me plz. u had the 1.8 50mm and u sold it to get the 50 1.4, what did u find about the 1.4 ? u take all ur photos with 2.0 and up so why to sell the 1.8 and get 1.4 ? im asking coz im gonna buy the 1.8

The 1.8 is pretty horribly built, as is documented. And the Bokeh is quite sharp to my eyes. The autofocus is super loud too, which is enough to wake a baby. 1.8 is plenty your right, but my decision didn't really take aperture into account much.

I've had both and agree with all of the above. The colour and contrast are much better on the f1.4 too. Maybe I got a bad 1.8, but the difference was night and day when I upgraded.
