No light imaging

We took a short family holiday in Edinburgh last week.

the 30D came with us and captured the usual shots, with mixed results, especially with our lot (we dream of herding cats.. it would be so much easier)

Anyway.

We visited the camera-obscura and they had some plasma-balls and similar things there and a sort of LED kaleidoscope wall.. the boys were captivated.. alas there was almost no light to shoot with, and flash would have killed the shots.

Images taken with my 30D + 18-55 at ~18mm 3200 ISO (H on the 30D), 1/25th sec and underexposed by 2~3 stops.. so lots of post to clean up. (I so want the 24-f1.4! or 28f1.8 and FF)

I should point out my eldest boy is profoundly autistic and a nightmare to shoot.. age 8 going on 3.

You're right, these images would have benefited greatly from a fast lens but you did what you could with what you had and they turned out alright. The first one looks a bit out of focus though.

You will treasure these for a lifetime...they will only get better and more precious as the child ages. I think you did a fantastic job capturing a wonderful spirited moment with a difficult lighting situation. Nice work.
