Rented the TamronVC for a weekend and thought that I got one with the battery draining issue but turns out I was being paranoid. No battery draining issue at all.
Funny thing was, when I first got it, there was enough barrel play that I thought "this thing might fall apart after a few more people rent it!" and then after I used it for a full day it actually tightened up if that makes sense. There was less barrel play after my rental weekend than when it began. So odd to me.
I used it on a crop body and found it to be very sharp. I thought it was weak at 70mm when I looked on my LCD screen, but found I didn't use it at full 70 so much as I did at 24-60 (had the amazing 18-35 as well). I think I let a lot of the known issues in my head instead of going off my own experience with the lens. It was after I looked at the pictures on the laptop I saw the real. And the VC came in very handy. Only thing I wasn't a fan of was the weight and size of the lens.
