Well, it isn't sundown yet in California so I think I can still post this one...

we found these flowers had grown outside the raised planter beds while we were on vacation.

We're a ways from sundown Tim.. Still plenty of light out there!
Those flowers outside the bed are so pretty, but I have a feeling that they would take over if left to
their own devices ;)

Thanks Ricardo.
Our garden is just starting up now. Spent the afternoon behind the roto tiller getting the ground ready for melons, squash, zucchini, and cucumbers.

The tomato plants are about 6 inches tall now and the wild alpine strawberries are beginning to produce some nice berries again. Some critter is digging in just one of the raised beds at night, but I'm not sure if its a rabbit, raccoon, or the neighbor's cat.

There may be ways of doing great macros with the G series cameras OhLook, but I strongly suspect that they can never compete with a good macro lens in a DSLR.

I don't think they can. When I bought the G15, I didn't understand that it wouldn't accept different lenses. It does better than the smaller camera I was upgrading from, but its macro setting isn't the same as a real macro lens. So now I mostly take pictures of things farther away.

Tim, some gardens around here have flowers like that. The seeds must have blown in or traveled by bird.

Stina, nice-looking nest pic, you got a good time of day for it. I hope that was an old nest (no birdlets).

Last year those flowers were growing IN the raised bed. When they were finished for the season, I pulled them out. They must have seeded the ground around the bed when I did that last fall.

Ricardo.. Those seed pods look a bit like Little Shop of Horrors!

Love those wild parakeets Vette! I've recently been reading about birds that have gone extinct, sadly,
and reading about the Carolina Parakeets. Very sad indeed. You've given us some beautiful examples
of this little cutie!

Crow, that SX50 does a dandy job of macro! Beautiful, tack sharp shot!

Since the beginning of the year, because of the back surgery, I have had to start walking.. farther and
faster than ever! I do find some funny things around the neighborhood. I do not take my camera, so
I leave a lot of beautiful flower and bird shots behind, but I do get a great deal of visual pleasure ;)

Here's something that I could bring home.. and Thanks to my lovely model, a display of a "treasure" I
found ... :)

*EDIT*

While cleaning up the front garden and pulling weeds, I found some wild flowers...barely big enough to see.
But, what I didn't see until I uploaded some images to my computer, was this beetle! What a surprise!

Pretty find Tim. Looks like you don't really need those planter beds.;)

I found that our swan-plant is producing fabulous seed pods.

Nice find, I'm glad you found a second to get out. This also reminds me of my strawberry picture.

I was at a loss this week. Didn't even leave the house until Saturday and then it was a quick errand. The only found thing was this sub-par snap of a pair of wild Monk Parakeets that was hanging out on the wires in front of my house.

I really like this picture, it's not the type of bird I see around here.

Looks like they had a mind of their own. I like it when they do that, it's always a pleasant surprise.

That's my son's picture, he took it this evening. The nest had fallen out of one of the hay bags, but we didn't see any eggs.

Oops, sorry, I went too fast and mixed up the name with another one that looks very much like it.

This computer is having a lot of trouble. I'm fairly sure it's a hardware problem. I'll try to keep posting, but if I'm absent for a while, that'll be why.
