Tokina 11-16 2.8 with 7D for concerts?

Just wondering who has experience in this setup for concert photography. I find myself using the Canon 17-55 2.8 quite often but question whether the Tokina 11-16 2.8 might be more beneficial for wide shots.
I've looked through the forums and know how well it's reviewed for landscapes and astro photography but haven't seen any input as it relates to concerts. Thanks!

I just got this lens and am going to try shooting with it this week for the first time in concert setting. On a crop body it probably won't give me as much WA as on a full frame or fisheye but it's better then nothing.

I have the same camera/lens. Any images? I'm gonna use this lens this weekend

Hopefully this will work. I didn't use it as much as I had expected however, using 2 cameras is highly recommended. I was surprised at just how wide it really was and it did add some variety to my shots but not enough to leave it on my primary camera and have to switch back and forth.

I would think it would be okay for an occasional shot, but it's not something I would want as my primary concert lens. I just think it's way too wide...

If you say concerts, the first thing I think of is a 135L, or for less the 200 2.8L.

I use this lens on a 60d quite a bit and I love it! It's not the sharpest lens but neither is my 16-35LII so for the price it's a bargain. You don't get the huge exaggerations of a fish eye but that's only a novelty and too much of those get old quickly. I think it's a great lens and I'm glad I have it in my bag for sure.
