Hi guys.
These guys come up from Mexico every year, nest and raise their young, then return to Mexico.
They're the smallest owl in the world at about 5" tall. They fly into a 1" hole in Saguaro cactus to nest. Its pretty cool.

These are 2 different Elf Owls that I shot tonight.
Excuse the lack of sharpness in the full body shot, it was pitch black and I shined a flashlight on him to manual focus my lens. My shutter speed was low and I'm lucky to have gotten one at all.
They're such cool birds!

I think this is the female peaking out of her nest.

Im not sure if this is male or female but it was a couple hundred yards away from the nest and was making a racket at the same time the above owl was in her nest. I think I have 2 separate nests!!!

Amazing! What little cuties, 5" tall would make them tricky to spot too :)

Great shots Jeremy. I can't believe you managed to get these with the use of a flashlight. That first shot is amazing!
