I haven't been in to where they are for a while. It's very wet in their rainforest patch. Once this tropical low heads off to Queensland I'll try to get in. I imagine they'd be quite drenched.

Yeh, I'd forgotten about your soaking rains.
Expect those birds are built for such

It's now breeding time for a lot of birds up here because food is getting plentiful with the rains, so I reckon you're right about them being built for it or we wouldn't have many birds!

We had a few Rosella's in the garden. I think this is a juvenile Eastern Rosella. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you're right Lyn.

And I'm not sure about this little cutie. I think it's a lesser sand plover (Charadrius mongolus) but I'd also like to be corrected as necessary. At Lee point, a bit north of Darwin.

From this morning, a baby boy Red-backed Fairy-wren from a little way down my road.

What a handsome little fella Pippan.
Wow.
Did you stumble on it or know of its existence?

Wouldn't have expected it to be coloured like that so young.

And a very nice mother too. Don't want to miss her out :-)

No I didn't know about it. But we've (well, mainly my wife spotting them) have discovered that quite a few RBFWs live in the bush further down our road (only lived here for twenty years without realising this:rolleyes:). So there were a few of them flitting about this morning, including this little beauty. I'm a bit puzzled by its colouring too. There were fully coloured males around too so I discounted the possibility of it being the end of the breeding season (which in any case should be March or April) and them moulting their breeding plumage. So I think it's a young 'un colouring up.
