Certainly a very attractive bird.
Beautiful tail markings.

Pippan what's happened to these?

Must be some development by now. Or did I miss a post?

This is the clutch that resulted from that earlier nest-building exercise: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=19317949 and https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=19321183. I haven't been in to the forest for a couple of weeks though (a bit too smitten by the fairy-wrens) but I should go in and see whether they survived all the rain around Christmas.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Thanks. Forgotten I'd seen those.
They look to be developing well.
I suppose they'd be used to rain events. Well most!

I went in this afternoon to see if I could find them. The nest was still there and looked intact (albeit very wet) but it didn't look like anyone was home. I guess they've fledged and are on their way in life.

Ain’t that nice, Pippan?
I was greeted by a squirrel having a punch-up with a crow over a walnut on the lawn when I drew the curtains. Not sure who really won but the squirrel retreated into the bushes with the nut. This seems to be a bit of a regular occurrence lately.
Here’s to the New Year.:-)

Well it's good to read that there's still some wildlife left in, as you describe, over-developed Kent. May 2022 be a big improvement (and all the other months).

Killer shots,,,,,, I love that first shot of the Eastern Spinebill on Kangaroo paws. Is that a native plant out there?

Congrats, and thanks for posting.

Yes, both wings. I assume it's part of the bird's anatomy, but what? Bone, tendon, other? It's about where a finger bone would be. I haven't seen this in other BIF shots.

They're small patches of skin that, during the breeding season, change from dull pink to dark scarlet, and their display is part of the birds' complex courtship ceremony.

This is either a Female Regent Bower Bird or a juvenile male, not sure. I spotted it feasting on these insects, some of which were bees.

Taken in the Lamington National Park.

Cheers
