Our baby Forest Kingfisher from a few weeks ago is still there and going strong. She'd just dived down to the shallow water and mud to get herself a feed, hence the dirt on her beak.

The orange under the wing, is that similar to the white ibis about mating?

That's a lovely photo.
Shows off the feather markings.
Very striking bird.

Um! You said a couple. I can see two legs and two wings but expect there's another bird lurking :p

The magpie-geese have again been breeding. But finally last Thursday the eggs hatched. This is a photo of their nest with the first goslings.

Yesterday I was able to see all of the goslings, the mum and 4 family members are taking care of them.

And the last one from today, (I hope I didn't break the rules to post more than two).

It looks like some goslings have already something to tell.

They are very nice Lyn
Lovely family photos

Interesting. There seems to be a few older birds taking a close interest in the goslings.
Are they older siblings? Or just interested others?

Thanks Richard. The older ones are the goslings from a year ago. With these geese it's common that uncles and aunts, siblings etc. help to look after the new ones. One of them is the biggest so he'll be the father of them.
