Something about these raptors. They strike such beautiful poses.

Not sure but could be a collared Sparrowhawk? Did it have yellow legs? Great photo - like all the other ones

thanks Charles.....I must admit though it couldnt have been done without the R5's Animal Eye AF . This has had a massive effect on my keepers as compared to the Canon DSLR's I previously shot with.

Probably the best example of this is a Bat colony at the back of my place in Melbourne I was shooting in attempt to get one of the bats skimming the river water on a hot day in order to get cool.

Over 12 months period using a 5DSR and 400mm f2.8 MK2 and 100-400mm f4-5.6mm I ended up with maybe 5 shots that captured what I was after . That is sharp, perfectly positioned above the water , eyes in focus and taken at the exact time they touched the water . These 5 shots I ended up with were the net result of taking between 5000-7000 shots of these guys over those previous 12 months.

FYI the main reason for so many failures was my DSLR AF tracking losing subject focus one way or another before they got to the water. Or I got focus but it landed on a wing and eyes were out of focus etc etc . The main issue was the dense bush and tree background throwing the tracking off as the bats descended into the river gorge to get on to the water which was an af issue ( distracting background) that all DSLR cameras had a problem with regardless of brand.

Anyway after changing to the mirrorless R5 a week after purchase I revisted the same spot I had been visiting for the previous 12 months and found the bats skimming water because of the heat. I had set new r5 to eye af tracking etc and frame rate to electronic 20FPS and started shooting. Within 30 seconds I had more keepers of Bats in flight skimming water than I had for the whole 12 months 7k plus of shots with my previous 5DSR body and lens combo!!. I was speechless it was that amazingly good. And thats been the case ever since .

FYI I dont mind sharing the above as it maybe of help to others if they are wondering what helps get good BIF
