Finally managed to get a halfway decent shot of a male red-backed fairywren. They are always so elusive and fast!! :-)

I love the detail and tonality in the red along with the separation of the various shades of blacks, nice work.:-)

Cheers

Beautiful composition. A very attractive bird.

certainly a very striking bird with that rich dark plumage and red eye
You've certainly captured the details. Not so easy with plumage like that

I always laugh when I see that name and it's easy for the mind to read strangled and then drongo and, well best not go political :p

Thanks Richard. Me too, it's gotta be my favourite bird name. We also have a fish up here called a Spangled Grunter.

I think that this Peewee (Magpie-lark) was dive bombing its own reflection in the lake, believing that it was a territorial intruder.:-)

I wasn't set up for in-flight shots hence the too-slow shutter speed.

Cheers

Dennis

baby Plover ~ masked lapwing
Here they live and breed on the streets amongst other places and generally they survive humans
This little chap has a dried worm wrapped around its leg

this male Superb Fairy Wren is back at his tradition and skips about the window sill and frame throughout the day
Fascinating to watch.
Each year we have one that does this.
