Went back to see how the Paperbark Flycatchers are doing and was surprised at how much they have grown in only four days. Not long, and they will leave the nest! :-)

Grey Shrike-thrush ~ Colluricincla harmonica
I met this beauty at the back door where it stayed for several minutes and flitted about landing on the window, clothes drier, door and then back to the fence and sang us its typical song

it was an interesting day with birds of several species sharing the same space in a tree. Something I've never seen before
A forest raven on one branch and a Little Wattlebird and a Grey Butcherbird on opposite sides of a branch about 1.5 metres below the forest raven

Beautiful. What a privilege.
Very nice photos.

They certainly blend in with the tree. Looks like the tree has been burnt in past and colours of bird and bark very similar
How high off ground? Looks low

Thanks Richard! Yes, they do blend in and it took a moment to find the nest again ;-)a The branch is approximately only 1.5 m off the ground.
They didn't do any burning in the area this year due to the Gouldian finches, but yes, fires go through at times.

Male Rainbird, aka Eastern Koel (external link), in my front yard early this morning; letting the neighbourhood know it's going to rain soon.

Koels arrive in northern Australia from New Guinea and eastern Indonesia in September, as the humidity rises just before the start of our wet season. Their strident, clear, ascending calls often precede rain and are frequently heard, though the birds themselves are usually high in trees and hidden by foliage. They breed here and, like other cuckoos, lay eggs in the nests of other birds. The newly hatched chick turfs out the other nestlings and constantly begs for food, keeping its smaller foster parents very busy. They return north in April as the wet season winds down.
