You didn't photograph that bird Clipper, you painted it! I can see the brush marks. :p

I think you are right, Pippan, you have exposed Clipper as a fraudster.:-D :p:twisted:

today I decided to brush-cut the grass down side of drive where the wrens have set up home.
No sign of them so plowed in and left.
I imagined that would be it as far as birds go but wasn't long and they were out in force, and much to my delight the 2 juniors who I hadn't seen for a day or so.
It was absolutely amazing.

Both juniors were sitting on the fence snuggled up then one flew off to the heap of new dirt nearby.
I crept up to the remaining one and was about 5', 1.5 metres from it as it stared about and at me at length.
Meanwhile 2 males and a female, dad and mum and hanger on, were also flitting about
I was gob smacked as I stood there in full view only metres from the adults and so close to junior. I'm sure I missed much of the action as I don't have 270 degree vision
Anway - here's a couple of the juniors
(Trust I don't do the wrens to death here and we wear out our welcome! Yesterday a male plucked a red flower petal and flew off. I'll post that later)

I was pretty impressed with the lens. The full res image certainly cranks out the detail

Beautiful shots of the little darlings, Richard. The story of how you took them is rather touching. It’s quite special when a tiny bird trusts you enough to come this close. I have had moments like that with Robins which to this day I remember.

Lol, it's only the male that has the red tail.:-) Even then it's only really displayed when the tail is fanned out as the bird takes off or lands.

Another awesome day of bird experiences.
The Cranky Fans (Grey Fantail) are nesting in a shed in same nest they've used for years - arranged in some old fan belts (not being smart  ) hanging off the rafters (I'd put them there for reuse later but birds beat me to it)
I'll tell that storey later :-)

Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoo ~ Calyptorhynchus funereus
We were having lunch today and I heard that characteristic slow drawl that anyone accustomed to living in the Aussie bush environs would instantly recognise. It's a lovely sound, or is to me.
I was amazed. 5 or 6 of them right outside our house
A couple came down for a drink. It amazed me how they knew the water was there as it was well hidden under the tree and shrub canopy. Normally only smaller birds frequent it.
I grabbed a quick photo through the window then wandered outside and watched them and them me

Another amazing experience up quite close for these beauties.
this couple were quite amorous up in the branches
female on left, male on right. He has a moustache or something that looks like one
